Introduce children to the joy of creating something useful with their own hands. This activity encourages creative expression and the opportunity to make a functional item for use in the classroom or at home.

The potholder loom I bought years ago has given me many hours of happy crafting and pretty pot holders. It migrated to the preschool and was used there but even more with the summer program for older children, actually ages 5-12. When students even older than that visited, they took out the potholder making materials.
That loom got packed when our school closed and will be used when our best directress begins a new Montessori school.
So now I need some replacement potholders and have gotten a new loom for me to use at home. I find that this size and the thickness produced works better on hot things than other potholders I have acquired.

My 5.5 yo really enjoyed this activity until she mastered it, haha. It was hard for her to loop the edges, but I really enjoyed that part. She was very proud of herself and refused to give away either of the potholders and even brought one to school for show and tell.

These sets are the same as i remember in the 70's. A great skill and patience builder. My daughter got to make something for her mom that was actually very useful. we will be making more.

I bought this potholder loom for my 4 yr old grandaughter, she is a little young for it but she likes making things. She easily warped the loom (strung the vertical loops) asking about and counting out the pattern of colors. At first I wove a few of the loops, gradually she began to take over and by the end of the second potholder she could do most everything except for the last weaving loop (it's tight!). I had to finish the edge - she'll be 7 or 8 before she can do that. This is a great activity to work on together- we had a long discussion on forming patterns with colors. Now she wants to make a purse! Clear directions were included.

I had one of these when I was a Girl Scout , many years ago. I bought this so I could have some decent potholders in my kitchen. I gave them for gifts and, now I am selling them. I like the metal frame and cotton loops, when most are made of nylon and they melt. All I all good product, i don' like that the loops are as easy to ravel I to keep trimming them.
